What y'all doing about Sandy?

Everyone in Sandy's path, please do what you need to stay safe. Resist the temptation to storm watch outside. A tin shed roof or a traffic sign can do a lot of damage when carried along on 60 mph winds.
One tip from Hurricane Alley: Fill a few zip-lock bags with water and freeze them. Ice can be hard to come by after a day or two of no power.
All of our vintage friends in the upper eastern seaboard will be in our thoughts over the next few days.
On a lighter note, Sandy was not able to join me on my last family visit to DE. My folks are probably regretting their wish that Sandy would visit soon.

Those of us living in coastal SC managed to dodge the bullet. We've had winds and very high tides. My neighbors have marsh waters up to their lawns but they are not complaining. Our yards are debris filled (leaves, small branches, etc.) but no complaints there either. We're expected to get more coastal flooding and a lot of the roadways are covered over, but again, there seems to be little to no real damage. We are very concerned for all of you in the path. PLEASE STAY SAFE and follow tof's advice above.

Matt is checking our gutters now. Better late than never! I am sending him to the store to get munchies and a few staples. We are pretty well stocked with food and water. I'm making chili which we could heat on the wood stove if we had fire wood! Our neighbor lent us a generator last time we lost power so hopefully he will do the same. He has three!
Everyone good luck and stay safe!

Delaware beaches have been ordered to evacuate. Rt.1 from Dewey beach to Ocean City is closed as well as the Indian River bridge. The ocean is crossing Rt. 1 and will soon be flowing into the bay's. AND this is just the tip of the iceberg. Tomorrow high winds, flooding and a lunar high tide will combine with a slow moving N'oreaster to make this a storm which rivaled the great N'oreaster of 62. We rode the Jeep to Rehoboth Beach this morning and the surf was 8-10ft. and was close to the boardwalk. We are 2 miles from the beach and are keeping our fingers crossed. Anyone living within 3/4 mile of the ocean/bay must evacuate. BE SAFE and dont go out.
