Wet and cloudy today but Sat. night is supposed to be good, so I'm planning on a fire. Sun. an MG drive. We would really like to meet up with some of our best friends as we always meet some place in the middle but since there's nothing open and no clean restrooms, that's not going to happen.

We are walking later up the street for carryout from one of our local places. They are having a BBQ special for the weekend - ribs, chicken and pork. Sides of coleslaw, mac n cheese and potato salad. Yum...

Fixing salmon Florentine for lunch tomorrow. Sunday will probably be a traditional holiday burger cook-out with AJ. Monday we scheduled the living room fireworks display for just after dark. That way the neighbors can enjoy the resulting house blaze. And we expect to be rid of any termites that may have invaded this year. They swarmed all over the area a couple nights ago.

And Monday, we will also remember those who should be remembered on Memorial Day.

We have not done fireworks in years out of respect for people who served in Nam and hate fireworks.

You know, Dave, that is very thoughtful...i.e. good thinking. Probably not just vets from Nam either. Many of those who came under fire in more recent conflicts might also dislike fireworks.

The Gulf Coast Symphony* puts on a free concert on Saturday evening every Memorial Day weekend, which is followed by fireworks. But not this year of course. Hence the idea of doing them in our living room, with John Philip Sousa in the background of course. But given your point, maybe we will just set the house on fire some other way. Anything for a little excitement.

I had switched shifts this week with a fellow I work with as he had needed thursday night off, so I worked thursday night for him and he was going to work my sunday shift but my boss just e-mailed me and said that the other guy who works with us is expecting his wife to have a baby today so he asked if I could pick up a few more shifts so looks like I will be working my Sunday shift after all.
My Dad said he sent me a Memorial Day gift that is going to be delivered to my door on Saturday. I'm wondering if it is an Omaha steak package.

I think he means the loose nut behind the wheel may cause a backfire of sorts.
