Enjoy the Hellbender to those going.

We're going to visit my niece and her husband in Pittsburgh. They're coming up on their 2 year anniversary and we haven't been out to their place yet. Typical fixer-upper. Every day is a new challenge, but they've done very well on it so far. We're leaving Thursday after work, returning Sunday. We're taking my nephew out with us who lives in Philly. One sister and my Mom are already out there (my other sister also lives in Pittsburgh) and we have family from Columbus joining for the day Saturday. Should be a good time.

We are in a slower period for events. Miss nephew and family. Had a video chat with them the other day. Posh showed us all around her and Sporty’s bedroom. They do have a large apartment. Waiting on rest of furniture.

Went to the final Sunset Parade of the summer at the Iwo Jima Memorial last evening with a friend and had dinner before at our fave Thai/Japanese place. Sat we are headed to our usual music venue for CCR tribute, AKA Creedence Clearwater Revival.

She called the unit on her left leg Plasma Flow. It is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis.

Hi Sue, how is Josie doing? I hope she's all well.

Hi Khau.

Thank you so much for asking about Josie. She did have some setbacks but things are looking better for her now.

She very unrealistically thought that she would be able to go back to work at the waterpark as a lifeguard/zone captain before the season closed around Labor Day. Her surgery was on July 10, so that was very unrealistic thinking on her part. She was very unhappy about that.

She also has a large pressure sore on her heel, and has been seeing a wound specialist for that. (I will spare you looking at pictures of that, but let me assure you that it is not pretty at all!)

She has had a lot of doctor appointments but the latest appointment was good news for her. Originally, the surgical doctor said that she couldn't drive until August 21, but the surgical site is healing ahead of schedule, so the doctor said that she can drive starting on August 19, which is when her classes start at Mt Carmel Nursing School. So, that made her very happy!

She is very outgoing and it has been very difficult for her psychologically not to be able to get out to do things, and see her friends, although some of her friends have been able to come visit her, and she has gotten out a few times with friends and family.

It has been hard for her to be cooped up at home most of the time. So, things are looking up for her now! She does much better psychologically when she is busy with work, friends, family, etc.

We will be seeing her tonight because her brother is going to University of Florida, and her parents will be moving him there this weekend. We will be having a "send off" for her brother tonight, so we will see them.

Thanks for the update Sue. Young people are like that. Our neighbors 14 year old daughter fell out of tree and fractured her back in three places. She can't stand being home or even using the walker. She wants to go to band camp. UofM doctor told her yesterday it's going to be months before she can be back to doing normal stuff. She can slowly get off using the walker. Not what she wanted to hear.

Dave, I am sorry to hear about your neighbor. That sounds like a very serious injury. Did she have surgery?

Josie will be in some kind of a boot and will be using a scooter. She is sometimes using crutches.

It is hard for her to get around but she is managing.

She starts classes on August 19, and will be starting a new job at the nursing school. She will be a tutor and mentor for other students.

She will also start physical therapy twice a week in September.

So, her schedule will be full.

Another upside to being young. you have the energy to be able to do all that.
Have I ever mentioned crutches suck? But it's really important that she use them correctly.
She has to keep her arms extended and not rely on her armpits for support.

Local hospital (one we have no faith in) said she would need surgery. They have a relative who is big wig political in the AA area and she got her a quick appointment for a second opinion. After the MRI they felt she could heal without screws. So no surgery.

It's probably best to be home with Shelley since this is our first weekend being an empty nester.

The weather looks a little iffy so you might not miss much. We will see you down the road sometime soon I hope.
