Wow, that kitchen set is huge. Kid would have to be about 7 or 8 to reach some of the stuff. I think its really to impress the grandparents but the detail is neat.
Here's my day Jerry might be one of the few who get the magnitude of this. Cindy is out at a scrapbooking thing. I know I have the day for myself. There's dart tournaments in both Philly and North Jersey. Both events are part of a "tour" 6 or 7 events each and points awarded for how you finish. I check the standings in both and I don't qualify- I didn't go to enough of either to earn a spot in the finals the next few weeks so going to earn points today won't help me. I was going to go to the NJ event anyway to see some people. Then I check the weather about 80 and mostly sunny today.
This morning, I get up, I check our county tee sheets and find a 12 Noon at one of the courses. I take it as a single. I play with this guy Joe, 77, lives in the area and two 60s Indian gentlemen - I know I've played with at least one of them before - you couldn't forget his swing once you saw it.
Joe and I get to talking. He runs a software company that does ML/AI and my employer is a customer (but not in my area). We chat about golf and travel and he says he's played about 80 of the top 100 courses in the US. Later on, he tells me his business partner is a member at Aronimink CC, and he's had a good time today. They are usually only three, so he'll invite me down one day. How's that for an "Oh Shit!" moment. An unsolicited, blind invite to play Aronimink. But he tells me caddie fees are steep (no carts at all) - $150 including tip. Oh well. It's probably a once in a lifetime chance. I'll have to also ping him in the Spring to see if they want to sponsor the Make a Wish dart tournament with a foursome (or threesome pending their rules).

I've never had the chance to play an old money, nicely maintained course.
I've been to Brookline CC for the Ryder cup but never played there.
Played some free rounds at TPC Sawgrass when I was a volunteer marshal back when Fuzzsy and Nicklaus and Trevino and those guys were on the tour. The TPC is not exactly old money but was definitely nicely maintained. Not that tough from the whites but the view from most of the championship tees was downright terrifying.
I don't know what it is but I love prepping the home as the seasons change - from warm weather to cold weather in fall, and reverse in spring. Maybe it makes me feel like I am fulfilling my husbandly duties.
With winter approaching we are spending time getting ready for the winter season. Air conditioner closed and covered. Outside taps winterized. Window caulking and weatherstripping touched up. Door weatherstripping replaced. Snow blower moved into garage, lawnmower moved into shed. New furnace filter, thermostat settings moved to heat. Hot water heater temp turned up (my wife insists on really hot showers in cold weather months). Garden ornaments and solar lights put away in shed. Carbon monoxide detector put into place. This is the weekend to do it.

We enjoyed yet another October top down day. Absolutely gorgeous weather we have had which is coming to an end tomorrow. We headed back to Cape Cod to check out a few more beaches.The first one was my favorite. There are marshy areas near the beach which often means I may get a chance to photograph some birds. The tide was up so beach walking wasn't at the best. We stopped at a few of the beaches got some steps in. I will make note of the ones I liked the best. Cape Cod is lovely once the tourists go home. September and October can be perfect months to spend some time there.
On the way home, stopped at a local brewery, (they switch up the brews often and make good porters that Rick likes to try) then a local restaurant for dinner. A good day it was. Lucky Goat

Nice!!! New rates for the "season" were posted. A round at Sawgrass this season is now $900!!! That would truly be a one time, play it, cross it off the list, move on situation.
I've had the fortune as well to volunteer when the Seniors played in Princeton NJ (really Lawrenceville) at TPC Jasna Polana. After the event, the volunteers were offered special days to play and special rates. I also met some other volunteers and got to play at their courses.
With a weather forecast of 10 days in the mid-forties it was time to give in to mother nature. Did a final wash and a final short drive before parking the MG for the winter and making room for my F150. I lay down a floor mat to catch the road salt and water since the garage is heated.
