Sorry to hear that, but it is a right of passage for most kids. You aren't a kid until you break at least one bone. I broke several when I was that age and even older. Having kids sign your cast is very cool too. She will like that part.

At least it's over the winter that she'll have the cast on. I never broke bones as a kid but I've certainly made up for it as an adult.

If we discount fingers and bone chips from ligaments, I never broke a bone until my collarbone two years ago. That counted for 5 fractures.
It certainly wasn't for lack of opportunity, I always bounced well I guess.

Deb, I'm guessing she's not the first to bust a bone on a hoverboard. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have it's own medical code now.

HAH!!!

sorry for the break but like others it part of growing up - well, maybe not for Jerry - but for most of us. I don't care to think about the bones I've broken so I won't.

When I always see kids in my neighbourhood riding those hoverboards I immediately think of broken bones. They must be a big injury creator. I also have a character who flies on an electrically powered skateboard in my neighbourhood, I swear he must be doing 30 mph or more , he does wear a helmet, but man he travels so fast I could not imagine him stopping for an emergency event and I am sure vehicles some across him very quickly. It used to be ATV's that were dangerous for kids but all of these new inventions must be taking over in terms of injuries.

Uncle Vito will be doing a drawing on the cast, so she will like that.

I broke my wrist when I was about 22/23. They wanted to cast me from shoulder to fingers. I fought against it as it would have likely forced me out of work for 12 weeks during our 'busy season'. I got away with below the elbow to fingers.

Since I needed a watch all the time at work, cell phones weren't here yet to help me track it, I bought a $10 Simpsons watch at Kmart and had the doctor embed it into the cast. Another -somewhere, I have a pic.

My grandson's cast was the same as far as coverage of his arm. Uncomfortable. I think he had that cast for 4 + weeks then he was switched to a removable cast/brace that was much more comfortable for him.
