Ouch. I hope they gave a supply of pain pills to go with. Are they talking about micro surgery?

Mike, I hope your pain will subside and will be back on your feet. Take good rest and do what the doctor tells you to do .

I had to be transferred to an ambulance using some kind of scoop thing they slid under me and then loaded it and me onto the gurney. X-rays show a degenerative disk and arthritis in my right hip...at least per the er doc who read the x-rays. I'm expecting an update once a radiologist has reviewed the study. Back on prednisone for five days which should help a bunch. Also getting a referral for PT. So no wild adventures this weekend.
So sorry to hear that Mike. That type of pain is unbearable. Hoping that the pain subsides and you can get some relief.

Preliminary diagnosis is just a degenerative disk. But a radiologist will review the study. I am supposed to follow up with my primary care doc this week and he may order additional imaging.

No pain meds needed as long as I am taking the steroid meds and stay off my feet mostly. (I got a walker for support for moving about a little.)
The S word has not come up yet.

Thanks for the well-wishes, everybody. I'm actually pretty comfortable this afternoon. I expect maybe some mild discomfort tonight but my evening Prednisone should keep the inflammation in check which minimizes pressure on the sciatic nerve. The key is not to do anything like I did to trigger the initial attack. Now if I only knew what that was!

Mike, sounds like you had a Oh My God event thanks to a Degenerative Disc. Keep the faith, it will pass and you will be dancing soon.

Memorable drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway today with my son as co-pilot. Bonus drive with a cruise to the top of Mt. Mitchell State Park - highest point east of the Rockies.
