We are lucky to live just an hour's drive from New Orleans and get to visit the most European of US cities often. But Key West remains on our bucket list, too. Maybe someday..

I just looked at a map to see where Key West is. There's a road out over the ocean all the way there?! That amazes me. Hurricanes don't take it out?

Kyras It's almost 300 miles by car for us to get there as we have to drive across the penninsula but it's only 90 miles due S by boat. The new bridges handle the hurricanes pretty well but all the way down you see segments of the old bridge. This is a picture from mile marker 46. Key West is MM1. Shot this just before a hurricane came in a few years ago. The cars went of top, the train down below. If you watch Arnold in True Lies they use segments of the old bridge throughout the movie.

Unfortunately no Key West for us this weekend. My foot is now in a big black boot and I have to stay off it for another week. AHHH! I am getting really tired of this.
Here's The Schooner Wharf webcam. Michael McCloud is onstage until 5 today. Fair warning my wife insists he has screwed up every song she knows.

That's the best part , driving over all of the bridges that connect each of the keys until you get to mile 0 at Key West. We made a road trip of it from Canada, about 1200 miles each way ? It would be awesome in a convertible like the S2000, we did it in SUV's on each trip.

Look up Fort Jefferson, if you think a bridge over the ocean is cool, you will be amazed to see a Fort sitting out there on its own, about 75 miles from Key West. A very cool place.

Talking to my daughter about Key West and she said she wasn't familiar with the Green Parrot. She likes Irish Kevin's and then named half-dozen others.

All the talk about Key West made me hungry for fish. You folks on the east coast and in FL all have lots of great options for fish. Out best options are about an hour or more away but they can't match the areas I mentioned. Locally the best we have is Red Lobster, so that's where we are heading in a little bit. Their biscuits are the best part of the meal. I should not complain as the wife made me lobster tail and steak last night for dinner. We have a MG meet tomorrow with a card game set up for the evening, and Sunday we have tickets to a dog show. So a full weekend.

We drove a rental car from Naples to Key West back in the 90s. Have you ever seen an alligator road kill? OMG!
This weekend I'll be riding my new E Bike. Just rode it home, traffic scared the crap out of me.

Trek bikes are on sale through April 30, if you have thought about getting an electric bike.

KW pics from 2012 with thread bump in 2015, the year we met up with Grant and Susan there. So it has been awhile!! Sorry for Photobucket sticking their stamp on them. They did that after becoming a paying website, which is when I said good bye to them.
