It looks like one big building with a center section and two wings. Is that right? Is it detached from the house?

Looks like the garage space could be bigger than the house. How large is the house?

Nice! How many cars/toys do you need to buy to fill the space?

I’m taking a break from the Cape this weekend and going to visit my son.

Correct, the middle garage would hold 4 cars comfortably, currently only the S is in there and it practically disappears among all the junk I've put in there until we've sorted it. Each wing can hold 3 cars comfortably, so 10 vehicles in total. The first will hold 3 cars: S2000, Nissan Leaf, and whatever truck we're about to buy - the previous owner had a Ram in there with two old sports cars that I didn't check out closely but I think they were an MG and a Sprite. The middle will be the games room for the kids and their friends, while the third will be my dedicated workshop and mower park (currently trialing Hustler and Walker zero-turns).

The garage is stand-alone but has been styled the same as the house. Total garage space is about 2200sq.ft, while the house is about 2600sq.ft but my wife has plans to expand.

Nice. I like the idea of having seperate wings that way you can dedicate each section to diffrent items.

My suggestion about building a garage was met with less enthusiasm than buying my last car.

That's perfect. Very close to the house but not connected so that the smell of gas, oils, solvents, paints and cleaners don't permeate the living area.

Great setup. But way more than I would need or want. I've got room for 4 vehicles + a boat but I'm happy to say I've downsized to 3 (sports car, SUV, and truck - the perfect combo IMHO) + boat.
