We had a house in our neighborhood up for sale. One open house and I believe a sale was pending. Sale price was only $2K below asking price. Crazy prices as our area is close to the new connection to the train to Boston.
Thank you very much. We hope to get close to asking price, but you never know until the showings start.

Good luck with your sale, Joey.

We got a contract on Mom's house just a couple days after we listed it, but various complications have tied up closing for well over two months and counting. We think the last hurdles have been crossed and we can have a closing in early February.. It's been a pretty stressful process for my two sisters in Delaware who provided boots on the ground during the whole process as my brother lives in CT and I am, of course, way down south in the land of cotton.

We flew from NOLA to Dulles on our trip to DE last week, in order to have a direct flight. I wasn't crazy about flying into Dulles but it did give us the chance to spend an afternoon at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a huge annex to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum that is located out near Dulles.. What an amazing collection that few even know about. We saw a number of aircraft from some of the earliest to a Lockheed F35B Lightning II. These pics are pretty awful but they give you an idea of the scope of the collection. That is THE Glamorous Glennis, the one Chuck Yeager used to break the sound barrier. That's the Enola Gay that dropped the big one.. And that's the Discovery that flew a number of successful shuttle missions of all kinds. Also note a Concorde and a 707. There was also an SR71 but strangely the two shots I took did not turn out. Both are completely black, something I didn't notice at the time.

If you ever find yourself near Chantilly, Virginia, out by Dulles International, this place is worth a visit. Entry is free but parking is $15.

Yes, it is a fabulous place. Of course, we have been there a number of times. Went to see the latest Top Gun movie on their IMAX screen. Amazing…

Vito is with his mom in NJ so am on my own this weekend. Do plan to meet a friend to see an exhibit at the National Gallery of Art on the Venetian Renaissance paintings of Carpaccio. Afterwards we are walking to my fave tapas place in DC called Jaleo, one of Jose Andres’ restaurants, for lunch. Love him also for his World Central Kitchen, providing meals in places of conflict/natural disasters all over the world.

Re: the Udvar-Hazy Museum. I am proud to say I have flown (piloted) the UH-1 Huey there. I was in the unit it was assigned to when I was in Vietnam in 1969 and as maintenance officer, flew all the aircraft at one time or another. Autographs are reasonable.

I have a pic somewhere I’ll post later. Found it, from 2007, and a few pounds lighter!

Hey, Gene. Very cool.
How about an autograph for a beer next time I'm up your way?

No plans. Lousy weather.......we'll see if I get the desire to think of something to do.
