When we had the first round of caliper issues, Rick was thinking it was because the car sat all winter. That is no longer the case. Not sure why we've had so many issues with calipers. It is an annoyance, to be sure. None of our other vehicles have had caliper issues.

One thought I did have was I had been washing the WRX just before it would sit for a couple of days when I had days off and would be using the S, and maybe the water was collecting in the calipers and causing the rust while it would sit.

I'm pretty sure you can take the caliper off and clean up the piston and get more life out of them as just the outer portion corrodes up and most of the time it is pretty mild. But the dealers won't do the repair they will just sell you a new caliper then they will sell you new rotors and new pads, before you know it the bill is over $1,000 .

Actually the last time I had the issue they cleaned up the caliper for me and charged me 36 bucks.

I had corrosion problems with the read brakes on the S. After disasembling them I found the damage was pretty bad and I decided to replace the entire caliber. I got the exact match from RockAuto. Worth the few extra dollars!

I've found a big difference in parking a vehicle in a garage versus outside as far as corrosion goes.
Dry = good, outside and wet = bad.

After wallowing in bad news all week and watching my MSU Bulldogs drop a home series to LSU earlier this afternoon, we are off to seek spiritual redemption in some good live music from a new band that is anchored by a couple of the best musicians from Blackwater Brass another favorite local group. The duo along with the rest of Blackwater are recently returned from a gig at SXSW.
