What plans do you have for the coming Weekend ?

The tenant in our rental property in the capital city is moving overseas so this weekend I'll be driving 200 miles there with a wagon-load of tools, paint, cleaners etc for a weekend of "fun". I was down there for the day last weekend and the gardens are massively overgrown so that's where the bulk of the effort will go. I'll be showing a few prospective tenants through the house at the same time, and also doing some office work for 4 hours in the middle of both days.
Hopefully by Sunday night I'll be driving back home in triumph (but not in a Triumph), with new tenants confirmed, the house and gardens back in a presentable state, some extra funds in my pocket and a smile on my face. Hopefully.
Also, this weekend I'll take the key to the house's front door, which I forgot to take last time...sigh.

True, but 400 miles in a weekend? I don't have 2 weeks to spare!
The house is nothing too flash, just an 1100sq.ft cottage built in 1915 for a railway worker. We're actually only the third owners, we bought it in 2004 as out first home as a married couple. It was a complete wreck so we had to resurrect it, including going through a winter with no water, power in one room, all our furniture piled in another room, missing floor boards and half a wall missing on one side. Now it's a 3-bed, 2-bath house. Some shots from about 4 years ago:
The driveway down the side was a major engineering feat and I wish I could pick it up and take it with us. Very quiet street, all day sun, sheltered from coldest winds, available from January 22 on a 12 month lease if anyone's interested in a Kiwi bolt-hole.

One of the fun couples we met on our river cruise in France was from NZ. Owned a winery which they were selling at that time - 2018. Brought some of their wine for us to sample. It was very good.

As luck would have it I live in one of the major wine growing regions of NZ. Do you remember which winery it was? There's been quite a few sold around here lately.

Nice story Matt. Our first place was a rental duplex we called the chicken coop. Little heat in the bedroom or bath. Lots of spiders since it was on a lake - one that had so much growth in it you couldn't even get through it in a boat. We don't miss those days but we had good time there.

I've lived in a cottage for the last twenty something years and have been happy living the cottage life.
As for this weekend I believe I will be acting as a snow transfer engineer.

EDIT - the website appears to be out of date. References in there are from 2013 and 2014. Does not show any current events. If you find out anything yourself, I'd like to know. You can PM me since this is a bit off topic.

I'm busy today installing our new TV. It is becoming involved what with removing all of the wiring, taking down to old tv and bracket, patching and painting the wall, mounting the new bracket, mounting the new TV and finally wiring the tv back into the system. Oh and there is setting the new tv up.
The rest of the weekend I am going to sit on my butt and maybe watch tv!
