I got most of my shopping done today so tomorrow morning I'm picking up the WRX in the morning then coming home and continuing the deep cleaning of my house.

I had some errands to run today and I never left the house. I was busy with a deep cleaning in the kitchen, changing out window valances, etc. AND, it was snowing and cold. My only time outside was to take care of the bird feeders.

Maybe those errands will get done tomorrow after my Y class. Granddaughter may want a ride somewhere. Her car is now being worked on, but needs another part, which Rick and I will pick up on Monday.. So happy she bought a WV.

Sounds like the opposite of my today and tomorrow.
Did I ever tell you what VW stands for?

I don't think so. Had she bought a Golf or Jetta it might not be quite so bad. The GTI has some dual clutch automatic transmission. There aren't as many of them hanging around junk yards as the Golf, so parts can be a bit less available, and of course the parts are more expensive.

Part of the story is that along the way she was told (not by us) that VW's are easy to work on, the parts are not all that expensive and so and so gets a discount, etc. I tried to explain that 20% off an $80.00 part was better than 20% off a $100.00 part. She wanted what she wanted and was hearing what she wanted to hear from others, On the plus side, I don't think she'd purchase a VW again. Granted, the car has 100K on it, some repairs are to be expected, but she's had a few costly repairs, not that she's had the $ for said repairs. BUT, her first priority is school and she needs a car to get to school and to the job that pays her car insurance.

My experience with VW's, 90's and newer, is that people either love them or hate them.

Oh Lainey, I was just laying on the floor with my dog and I did not get through to her either. And I still love her.

We had two VW Passat. They had some really strange quirks by the time we sold them. We didn't buy VW again.

I decided to install a new garage door opener this weekend. My home's original opener crapped out on me. When I called my garage door guy he wasn't working on private homes due to Covid19 ( he was obviously enjoying the free government money too much to get off his arse and work)

I ended up buying a garage door opener from Home Depot that has a DC powered motor. I never thought I would work on my own garage door, but it was much easier than expected. The new opener looks like a small toy compared to my old AC powered unit, much smaller and lighter with a lower profile. The soft-start and soft-stop operation makes it work really smooth. My garage is attached to our house so the reduced noise and vibration is a welcomed benefit. I saved some decent coin doing it myself.
