We leave for Chincoteague Island in the morning. I have a tee time in Ocean City Sunday morning. The rest of the week, we'll see the horses, boat ride, who knows... Hopefully, uninterrupted and relaxing.

Drive up and visit Lewes. We have great restaurants, shopping and it is the first town in the first state founded by the Dutch in 1634. It was invaded by the Brits during the war of 1812. There is a house there named the cannonball house. It has a Brit cannonball still embedded in the brick front.

I'm watching the Cameron Peak Fire situation. I live about 4 miles south of one evacuation area but I'm hoping it's lifted. Hmm. After looking at the map below, where I indicated my home, it looks like the evacuation area to the west is closer than the one to the north. The large yellow voluntary evacuation order was added today. I'll be watching the update on Facebook this evening to see what's happened. I was invited to go to my sister's in Colorado Springs this weekend but have plans to fly to CA next week. I won't leave my cats unless I'm fairly certain the fire won't come to my house.

Enjoy, please feel free to share pics!

I'll be doing a little bit of granddaughter transportation. The 2008 VW GTI that she HAD to have seems to have transmission issues. It won't go. There also seems to be some electrical issue as well, maybe parts can't engage? Rick talked to a few of his contacts who suggest a trip to the dealer.....$$$. But, today, she did tell me she should have bought a Toyota. Funny, I think I remember her grandparents (that would be us) suggesting something more reliable than a VW. Life's lessons are sometimes a little late to kick in.

Wow Patty, this must be a very difficult time knowing it is so close while hoping you are safe from it. To close for comfort. Don't try to be too brave or foolish.

I keep thinking it's going to be fine because I don't live in the trees. I have a few pines on my property but it's mostly just prairie grass. I figure that the forested areas are what's burning and once it leaves the trees it'll be easy to stop. Two hours until the Facebook update. I'll pay close attention.

Being further from teh forest is a good thing.
The "big" fires tend to pick up burning embers and carry them forward sometimes dramatically so
