My plans for last weekend did not include changing a flat tire in the dirt on my 2015 Honda Crosstour but it happened on 6-20-2020.

^ 6-18-2020. As I arrived at Kennedy Meadows for four nights.

^6-20-2020. WTF caused that!?

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020. Oh, this isn't what I had in mind for this evening!

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020. Do I know how to have fun or what? I was just happy that I was able to get it done with the owner's manual but I was not sure where to put the jack. The drawings were fairly worthless.

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020. Holy shit!

^6-20-2020. Spare is on!

^6-20-2020. That tire and rim are big! This will take some thought.

^6-20-2020. Of course the spare donut didn't have enough air in it. Does anyone take donut spares out from under the back of their cars to keep them up to pressure? I never had. I pumped it up with a small compressor I use to blow out the waterlines, but my tire gauge only went to 50 psi and the tire needed 60 psi.

^6-21-2020. The sidewall wreaking culprit!

^6-21-2020. I believe that's a property-line marker that got unburied with rain runoff on Dert Road.

^^6-20-2020. After the flat change I just hung out at my trailer instead of driving up to 8,000 feet as I had planned when I left. The trailer is at 6,000 feet. This is by far my favorite time of day there for the shadows. It was 7:01 PM.

^6-20-2020. Yep, I'm white trailer trash.

The day was fun overall. I rode my ElliptiGO 17 miles in the earlier part of the day.

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020.

^6-20-2020. The South Fork of the Kern.

^6-20-2020.

Of course, that was just Saturday, June 20th. I wasn't done by any means with the flat issue. On my way home (CA) I had to get a new tire to avoid driving 206 miles on a donut spare. I couldn't locate the one I wanted on Sunday from the trailer and my calling card was down to 37 minutes. Once I got back into cell service I called around and the best I could do was in Ridgecrest, CA with a Yokohama. I got the new tire on Monday, in the morning and was happy to be able to go over 50 mph.

Oh, did I mention I got a speeding ticket on my way up to Kennedy Meadows, on Thursday? It was written for 87 mph in a 65 zone, near Ridgecrest. That's gonna hurt! Wide open flat desert where you can see for dozens of miles. At least he didn't nail me for 100 mph like I might have been doing when passing. I looked at my V1 radar detector in the garage before I left, and didn't put it in the car.

6-22-2020, Monday night, back at home, I tried to get the donut spare put back under the back of the Crosstour and I couldn't get the hook to come down low enough to catch the spare tire rack. I tried for a good two hours and finally gave up.

^6-22-2020. It won't work! My body was aching. The spa felt great.

Tuesday, 6-23-2020, after another fun ElliptiGO ride, but this time with my gal friends, in Newport Beach, I took my Crosstour to my my Most Excellent Honda Mechanic, Ramon, and he discovered that I managed to cross-thread the part at the very end so it wouldn't drop down as far as it needed to be. It was too late for Honda to get the part so my next CA trip I'll go get it put on the Crosstour. In the mean time, I've got a bitchin' coat hanger device that Roman crafted to keep the rack from falling. I had used an orange coated twist wire.

^6-23-2020.

^6-23-2020. Ramon at Niguel Motors.

^6-23-2020. Ramon said it's cross threaded underneath the bottom connecting parts so I couldn't get it to go down enough to hook the spare tire rack. Oops.

^6-23-2020.

^6-23-2020.

^6-23-2020. I uncovered it for the photo but never drove it over the 8 days I was in CA.

Patty I might be tempted to put a big post on that property marker since I wouldn't want that to happen twice...

this weekend I intend to fix the Jacuzzi once and for all. part came in but to lazy to do it on a weeknight.
plus the PVC cement stinks and it in the master bath.

golf of course.
doesn't look like i'll need to mow the lawn since it's already gone mostly dormant.

Gah, you've reminded me, added to the list. Ours have taken off with the combination of Winter sun and new rainfall. Great for the livestock, annoying for the lawns.

I tried to get it out but it wouldn't budge. It's in the road where my tire goes which is why I hit it in the first place. I ended up using a claw hammer and digging up lots of dirt to pull it and cover it and I also took a couple rocks to put on the edge of the road where the marker is so I can keep track of it.

Looks like you still had some fun despite the hurdles you had to overcome Patty. I listen to a show on weekends called the Car Doctor and he always says the first thing you should do when you have a new driver in the house and they are ready to go out solo for the first time is let the air out of one of the tires while the car is in the driveway and tell them they need to figure out how to change the tire before they go anywhere.
