Quess we will be going to funeral in TN, as a close relative just passed away. I'm not looking forward to traveling in the winter. We have snow coming down here and just a short distance to the north of us has 8-10" already.

My condolences, Dave. Have you considered flying? It would be a lot safer than driving!

Cute kids, Deb. The zoo is one of my grand-kid's favorite outings. They love the giraffe and parakeet feeding areas the most.

Yes, that's the first thing I looked into; it would be cheaper too, not counting the car rental we would need. We are still waiting on getting more details about the funeral, etc. before we decide.

Update: silly me, I was looking at prices if I booked 90 days ahead!! Its way-to-costly to fly at this late date.

Why do snow and funerals seem to go together?
It reminds me, one of my grandmothers died about 25 years ago in April.
The forecast called for a late season snowfall. I bagged out of work and headed north to Maine for the funeral a day early.
Sure enough southern New England got hammered with 17 inches of snow. Maine almost nothing.
The odd part of the funeral is I went over to the graveyard to check on the liner placement.
The back hoe operator had smacked the sidewall of the grave with liner and had collapsed it in.
I wound up digging it back out.My fathers grave site was 5 feet away.

Sorry for your loss, Dave. Hope your travels are safe.

Yes, bolt, bad weather and funerals often go hand in hand. Both my Dad and Rick's Mom passed away during the Month of March, (2003 and 2007) March is not the best month here in New England. I remember loaning my sister one of my winter coats for Dad's funeral. Not sure why she didn't have one with her as she was from NH. I don't think she had much time to pack. The day of Rick's Mom's burial was so very cold. I remember being outside for the brief service and freezing my tail off. It just adds to the misery of the moment/day.
