We have a neighbor who has had a contractor putting on replacement roof shingles on his house for the past several days while the temps have been basically 5°. I think he's nuts, as is the contractor that's doing it. What do you think?

Oh, and I didn't mention we have 3 to 4" of snow on the roofs! I keep waiting to hear the ambulance. And, its dark enough right now that the street lights are on and fools are still up there.

I'll probably make a run down to the Cape to check on the house this weekend. When the temps fall like this it tests all the systems in the house. I want to make sure everything is ok. Plus I need to put the water heater on vacation mode.

That is exactly what happened to us last year, Dave. The battery died due to the cold, I think. I changed the batteries this fall.

Tomorrow I am going to install a humidifier. The house is so dry that I need to do something.
