Yeah, rub it in. After the stress of the fires, you deserve some relaxation. I do, too, after a stressful month of investment dealings. But I will be content to relax here at home. We have plans the next couple of weekends.

Ah, the joys of retirement! We have never taken a full two weeks off from work. We'd both have big messes to dig through when we returned, I fear we would not want to go back.

When we are retired like you, maybe we'll take a two week trip somewhere....Hawaii sounds lovely...enjoy!

My wife and I took a two week vacation on Siesta Key beach a few years ago and vowed we would do that every year. The following year she was laid off and has been contracting with no paid vacation ever since. That was the end of that dream.

Well, at least you got to go once! The +1 is still working. I could take days more often to go somewhere, but time/money is still an issue for him. He has more responsibilities. So it's a compromise. The big trip to Canada was last year. Next year is the big trip to France. So every other year I plan on a big, more expensive trip. In between, we take our long weekend trips.

I'm in a similar boat. I have almost 34 years in with my company, so I get 5 weeks of vacation. We usually plan 2-3 weeks of unpaid time off for my wife, but she lost a lot of pay when her hours were cut in the first half of this year, so she felt like she shouldn't take any unpaid time off.

Dreary start to our Sunday, but we needed the rain. Think we will head up the street for brunch in a little while.

Busy, busy next weekend. Fri night is a Caps game. Sat afternoon is a Pig Roast and Bourbon Bash at another local place we like. And Sun we are going over to my nephew's place for Navajo tacos. His wife is Navajo. The tacos are made with fry bread instead of tortillas. I like that they are teaching the girls the Navajo language and traditions.
