[QUOTE=matt_inva,Oct 11 2005, 08:35 PM] It is funny how that works.

[QUOTE=PokS2k,Oct 10 2005, 08:16 PM] I can't express how much fun I had. But I'll try:

Jim,

I reviewed this thread from the beginning this evening and re-visited your "Master Card" post. And besides the fact that no one caught a picture of YOU laughing so hard that you where crying as well, I could not with you more!

Like I said to Rob (Ralper). One had to be there to appreciate all of the interactions that took place. It was like a "party riot" that just fed off of it's self. Between the singing (including Rick's version) and Carla's great voice, to the dancing (including the Bumpettes) and the girls version of the Rockettes. Not to mention Jerry trying to keep up with the Village People's YMCA

It reminds me of the old "motorcycle saying" about what is so special about motorcycling: "If I have to try to explain it too you, you will not understand it!"

With that stated: I have co-workers that think that I am NUTS to drive 1463 miles over four days to have dinner and hang out with a bunch of strangers that I met on the Internet! But, after everything is said and done: What did they do this weekend (besides sit around the house and watch the tube?) I would be willing to take the bet (and I do not gamble) that WE HAD MORE FUN! When we decided to cut loose. (Hmm, perhaps Steve Miller should write a song about us)

Matt,

It is amazing isn't it? I guess the internet isn't as impersonal as some people think it is.

And in NE Lainey is rounding up new members in the NE forum to go out to dinner saturday. Maybe she found a good Karaoke bar for Rick to perform in.

I had an interesting conversation with Rick and Muriel, the owners of the Rain Tree when I had dinner there on Sunday night. They were fascinated about how we put these events together over the Internet. They, of course, where also disappointed to learn that it is not likely that we strike the same place twice. Rick did admit, that we made it worth their while on Saturday night. I would speculate that we dropped a couple of thousand dollars into their till. But, they were very accomodating with splitting the checks and letting us take over the bar with their Karaoke unit.

The lesson to be learned here is: That the Internet can be a wonderful place or in the case of unsuspecting people a bad place. In my opinion it has done more good than bad, and that the media just loves reporting the bad stuff that happens. Like the VCU student

Here are some more pictures. Everyone has taken and posted so many excellent photos, that I have tried to avoid simply duplicating what you've seen before.

Yes, I'm addicted to S2KI!

Is admitting the problem the first step to the cure?

Though I'm having too much fun, I don't want to be cured.

Then I'll have to buy Rick his own computer. Then we can PM each other so all communication between us won't be lost due to time spent here.
