I read the comments in the Country Music thread about today's clothing compared to our younger days, which inspired me to start this thread. Lots of retro looks - cars, clothes, etc - are in right now. What have you noticed? I bought two pairs of hiphuggers last year that I wear alot.

One thing I don't like, though, is all those great songs we listened to being used for advertisements for products. Tacky, tacky, tacky...

Yeah! Led Zeppelin and Cadillac. But I must admit it gets my attention. Otherwise I wouldn't even notice a Cadillac commercial.

And what about the Who for one of the CSI shows. Unfortunately they leave out the line "Who the f*** are you?"

If you spend any time at all in the fashion business you will hear the expression, "There's nothing new under the fashion sun". It has always been true.

I kinda like the old songs being used for commercials - as long as they don't alter them or have someone else doing the songs. One thing I've really hated to see re-emerge - POLYESTER - eeeuuuwwwww! I love the hiphuggers, though - it's the only way my tattoo ever shows

While I agree with you about the polyester double-knit, the newer polyester microfiber is almost as good as silk with better washability. Nice stuff!!!

Hiphuggers... remember hotpants?

Well, actually it was the old-style polyester I was referring to - I've seen that in what I'd refer to as leisure suits nowadays. They are doing some neat stuff with polyester - finally. Yup, I remember hot pants - not wearing them out in public any more!

I knew what you meant.

Leisure suits

To think I actually had one of those things.
