Water Softener gotchas?
#11
We have a separate filtered hard water faucet in the kitchen for drinking, if you don't mind well water. Generally we drink bottled water or refilter the well water using a brita container.

Where do you get potassium chloride, all I see in the stores is salt.
The softened water I've tasted has never had a salty flavor and according to the softener websites there shouldn't be nor should there be a sodium intake issue.
Thanx bolton blue. Sounds like a small septic tank. Hmmm, since the regneration seems to only take 20-30 gals it would seem that if I could just get it below the surface growing area then it shouldn't be a growing issue no matter what.
Maybe I could do a small field of 6" post holes that are 5' or so deep below a concrete cap.
I inherited several pieces of concrete slabs that used to be one of neighbor's driveway that are 4'-5' wide and 5'-6' long. I could dig a hole that is 2-3' below ground level, drill the holes and cap that with the concrete then put top soil on top of it and I wouldn't think the salt would leach back up.
