I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP , all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.

Yes, the debt doubled on GWB's watch. Not that the next administration has shown any signs of doing better...

Note that the Federal fiscal year is 10/1 through 9/30. So by the time a president elected in November takes office in late January, we're almost 1/3 through the last budget year passed under the outgoing president.

GWBush started ambitious military campaigns half a world away without raising taxes. I can't think of a single successful leader in history who embarked on a military campaign without paying for it. Obama inherited that asinine policy, hence the dismal economy and shyrocketing debt.
