Maybe, but the main reason I was able to come out whole was because I was able to buy the car relatively cheaply from the estate. The widow wanted to sell it as much as I wanted to buy it. If I had paid much more, I doubt that I'd have come out even.

I do think that you can do ok in the collector market, but you really have to know what you're doing and be able to buy the car cheaply.
