We got 13" here but the real issue is very high winds, monster drifts and below zero wind chills. All external vent and water pipes are double wrapped and imbedded in insulation. A word of caution, heavy drifting has blocked some of the neighbors external heat and hot water pipes. The heater shuts down automatically if it detects CO2. I cleared mine and had no problems. Others did not but have now and they are fine. I hate winter.

 

Boston was a mess, but the south shore area was really a mess. Seawalls were breached, lots of flooding. I believe water was as high as the blizzard of '78.

We had wide ranges as far as snowfall goes....12" plus about twenty minutes from our house 8" in the city I work in, but Rick didn't think there was more than 5" here. On his first round of snow clearing, while clearing the neighbor's front walkway, he didn't notice a welcome type mat and into the auger of the snow thrower it went...Had to fight with that for a bit...He's out doing the second clean up now. Snow is pretty much over, headed to the deep freeze now.

 

^Lainey, I did the same thing some years ago, while clearing my neighbor's driveway. The welcome mat got caught and sheared off the shear pin, plus jammed the works up. Of course, I didn't have a spare pin, so found a suitable sized bolt to replace it. Still there!

 

I can't honestly say how much we got. It's on the dry side so blowing around quite well.
I've got bare roof in places and 3 feet of snow in others.
I've been lazy after running around all day, I'll fight the cold and snow in the daylight.
It's not heavy wet stuff that will freeze up.

 

We have river rocks along a sidewalk and as much as I try not to, sometimes I hit one. Not good.

 

I usually buy shear pins by the 6 pack.
We got 1 inch stone at the bottom of the drive.
A friend who has the same snowblower I do, accidentally hit the sunday paper.
Somehow he didn't break the shear pin. He did however totally cover his yard with little shreds of newspaper.

 

My patience is wearing rather thin.
I've waited at least twelve hours and the snow is still on the walkway.
Apparently it will not clear itself and I need to go out in the cold.
sigh....
I wish somebody in physics could explain how a snow blower always blows into the wind no matter what direction you aim the chute.
It always comes straight back in your face.

The bad news is that it wasn't cold enough at 26 degrees F to freeze my balls last night. The good news is that I will go ride my ElliptiGO today because it wasn't super cold last night. It's predicted to be 50 here today.

 

Ha, ha, ha, ha.... it was here. It got down to -11 which broke a record from 1912. Since we are in the center of the state we don't see the drops they do near the lakes.
