It never ceases to amaze me how the weather knows it's Labor day weekend.
We have plenty of nice weather left, we got rather cool last night dropping into the 40's last night.

Well, after yesterday, our hot spell is over. Low 80s today and even 70s this weekend. I like it.

With the stronger El Nino this year, here are the expected effects:

- Wetter: Southern U.S. from California to the Carolinas then up parts of the East Coast

- Drier: Parts of the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, Northwest and Northern Rockies

- Cooler: Desert Southwest, Southern Plains, northern Gulf Coast

- Warmer: Northern tier of states from the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, and Northeast

Nasty, nasty thunderstorms last night with lightening that lit up the entire house repeatedly and heavy downpours. Our temps are getting in the 80s during the day. Much better than 90-100!

We had a very dry August,
We're making up for it with 2" of rain in the last 24 hours.

It's been HOT here in the Bay Area, Livermore hit 108 and Napa has been 101 - 103 all week. No chance to cool down the house at night. Slightly cooler today (97) then tomorrow things start dropping fast back to normal 80s. Have gone to two movies this week just to stay out of the heat. (Mr. Holmes is a very good movie BTW)

Well temperatures are back to normal range, but fires are close again. The newest one (Valley fire) began yesterday and in 18 hours burned 40,000 acres! It's made the valley full of smoke, closed the highway at the north end of the Valley and sky is very very hazy.

Those fires look really bad. Are you in any danger there?

Our weather has turned almost fall like. Much cooler today. Only in the 70s. I like it.
