We're 3 weeks from Winter down here but yesterday it was 83 degrees. We've had about a quarter inch of rain in the past month but somehow the newly sown grass in the paddocks is still looking healthy. We're in our second year of drought. If I still lived in town I'd probably be loving this but nowadays, not so much.

Forecast is sunny and over 75 again today, but hopes are high for rain tomorrow.

^^^^I thought you're winter started June 21, like the summers do here.

It's been cold and raining/sleeting all day. I'll probably end up with snow on the ground tonight. I still rode my ElliptiGO 10 miles and got soaking wet. The Global ElliptiGO Riders Club (GERC) keeps me motivated with monthly challenges so I ride in nasty weather just to get points for something I could buy. I'm probably going to ride in worse weather tomorrow before the 70s return on Wednesday.

^5-10-2021. Yeah, that would be 11:16 AM weather data, after I had finished riding 10 miles.

^5-10-2021. I was soaked but still sort of enjoyed my ride. I had dried the water off my Rx glasses when I took this selfie. I was in a gated community; my ex husband's gated community just 5 miles from my house. The gate opened for a car when I was going to turn around and go home, so I went in to add more mileage. The gate did not open when I tried to leave. I had to lay my ElliptiGO down to get it under the gate and drag it out. No biggie. I got a new view. I live on the other side of Devil's Backbone (to its west) so my view of the rock formation is different and more impressive. I have less earth at the bottom of the rocks on my side.

Same day but later.

A little bit of snow is sticking.

It’s 93 here today, hot! May have to turn on the a/c if the house doesn’t cool down. Napa county was just added today to the state’s official drought counties. Rationing on its way.

Bummer on the drought. My area in northern Colorado is above normal for rain. It's green and wet.

Depends on one's definition. Here we just say Winter is June-August rather than relying on the solstice to define it.

FWIW we peaked at 79 today. I think I got a little sunburnt.

Woohoo!

Note the state of the lawn in the foreground. The green strip across it is directly above the tail drain for the septic tank so that's always, uh, well watered. The paddock grass is loving the rain. Special guest appearance by one of our heifers/green waste disposal units (Sweetcheeks) on the far left.

My next update will probably be "WHY WON'T IT STOP RAINING?"

Better weather is here tomorrow. I'm glad! Riding in cold rain sucks. Today I was thinking how unfun it was but then I remembered that two years ago I was 2 days out from IRIF surgery for my broken humerus. I crashed on May 8, 2009 from the same wet and cold weather and my mistake dealing with it. I was much smarter this year.

^5-11-2021. Two day total.

35? Chilly!!
We've had upper 50's low 60's but breezy! Tomorrow looks good. A short road trip to a RI Audubon site, weather is supposed to be a bit warmer, less breezy.
