Hurricane Hazel actually hit Ontario Canada, it make a hard left turn at the Atlantic ocean down the great lakes, 81 people dead, many homeless, in 1954. No one would have ever predicted we would get hit by a hurricane with 125 km/hr winds and unprecedented flooding/rain.

The flooding in the southeast US was crazy, along with wind damage. I just seen a video of the coast guard rescuing a man and his dog from a sailboat in horrendously rough waters. What a man would be doing on a sailboat in hurricane conditions is beyond me, the rescuers clearly risk their lives for people who make dumb decisions.

Supposed to have sun today for a change but right now it is very foggy.

We got a lot of rain Wednesday into Thursday but we needed it. It has been very clear and nice the last two days. We have the fog early in the morning but it clears up by ten. Getting some seat time in the S as time is growing short.
Official stats:currently mostly sunny and 59 degrees.

More clouds than sun here today, again. Tomorrow too.

Dark day long drizzle washed out our plans for the chili contest downtown .... vendors and brews make it fun but not today.

Another dry warm day here.

Central Georgia got hammered.
Augusta National did as well. Lots of trees down on the course. Enough to totally change the look and feel.

I've seen some recent news reports about houses along the Atlantic shore in North Carolina falling into the ocean. I think there have been a dozen or so thus far, and another 15 are at risk of falling. Maybe I am just a bit too simple of a man, but if someone tells me they are building a home on stilts on the edge of an ocean, with the supports buried and surrounded by sand and water, I would surely expect that home to end up in the water one day. It is a pretty safe bet, but the homeowners seem very surprised when it happens, I couldn't even imagine being able to get or afford insurance on a structure like that. It is sad to see but it should not be unexpected.
