^8-8-2024. I'm happy with clouds and cool air for a change.

It was a gorgeous day for a 90 minute boat ride in Maine. Spotted the Atlantic Puffins. Pics will need lots of cropping. Nice top down weather as we head home. We got lucky with the weather

An interesting time lapse of a glacial lake and it's release.

13500 years ago a similar event in in Idaho, Washington and Oregon created the scablands.
Except that event was many thousands of times bigger.
Lake Missoula was held back by a glacier and eventually the glacial dam would burst sending a mile high wall of water down the valley.
Needless to say the valley didn't fair well in this adventure.
It's a fascinating read.

the guy who figured it out was viciously harassed and ridiculed by his peers.
but smart guy prevailed eventually.

Much drier, more comfortable weather here. We've been wanting to check out a "herd of elephants" in Newport, RI, however I just could not deal with the heat. Mid-week is best right now at Newport is a big tourist attraction. I think we will head there on Wednesday.
