Temperature peaked at 90°F today. I broke down and turned on the AC today to drop the humidity in the house. I can take the heat but the humidity does me in!

We are close to the coast, so our temps won't be as warm as yours, Rob. However I will take the cooler temps, no problem.

Since our AC/Heating units are 25 years old, I had them checked today just to be sure they could survive another season. The technician was very thorough and spent well over an hour checking everything. He only found that the filters were dirty (my bad!) and that the compressor motors needed their capacitors replaced. The freon/coolant charges were good, as well. Of course, anything mechanical can break, but they will survive another season. They are Armstrong units, a brand I had never heard of, but the HVAC guy my builder used recommended them, so when they go, I plan to use their units again.

Another warm day on tap for today with possible heavy storms. Currently the sky is rumbling and quite dark to the southwest.

Gene it might be worthwhile to look at the HVAC ERA Energy rebates that are out there right now along with the interest free loans. Some of the programs ae really good.
I have to believe if your system is 25 years old, it would qualify. The programs may go away next year.

On a related note, glad they checked out ok since the OAT is now 90* and the units are working their butts off!

I do hate the heat until my body adjusts and gets used to it.
Our bedroom was 75° last night and I tossed and turned for hours trying to go to sleep.
I even had the ceiling fan on medium moving the air around.

Weather service last night: "Expect 2.5in of rain tomorrow, with up to 8in for inland areas and about the ranges. Batten down the hatches! Buy a boat! Build an ark!"
Weather service this morning: "Expect 0.1in of rain today..."

On Monday they said we'd get 1in and we got 3in. I swear they've become less than useless since Covid lockdowns. I'm wondering if there's a hole in their models since there were no/very few commercial flights gathering data for months in 2020.
