I thought the purpose of sealing was to prevent cracking?

Yesterday was 60° and quite nice. I finally could run the S63 on it's summer tires. ( I was too lazy and never got around to putting on the winter tires.)

The S63 coupe is a very dangerous vehicle. I got on Rt 495 and accelerated up and started working through the traffic.
then I glanced at the speedo .
I was doing 92 without thinking about it. No drama No screeching tires, no roaring engine or redline shifts.
Just a casual, sedate, almost pedestrian 92 mph.

No, sealing is mainly designed to protect against vehicle fluid leaks, plus it looks pretty. The routing and filling of cracks is designed to keep deep cracks from expanding further once they develop.

If you apply the coating too often the coating cracks, as does a thin layer of asphalt below it. I'm talking top surface cracks, not so much deep structural cracks. I've asked my asphalt contractor about this in the past as I noticed a lot of driveways get cracking on the top surface. I can see all of the driveways in my neighbourhood who have done theirs too often or with the wrong product. This happens more with Acrylic coatings, we don't seem to have as much issues with asphalt oil. Everyone likes the acrylic as it dries quickly, when I get mine done my contractor uses asphalt oil , we stay off it for 24 hours. I've been told that the asphalt needs to breath and allow moisture to escape, sealing it too often affects that process, it is a very specific look when you get that cracking occurring , easy to spot. I tend to do our properties and my home every 3 years max, they contractor who does my driveways seems to agree with that schedule. I know one guy who was outside doing his driveway every few months, he was obsessed with it , and it was on a brand new asphalt driveway. After a couple seasons the entire surface was completely cracked and looked like it was 20 years old.

I get a laugh out of the coating products that advertise themselves as being airport grade (usually the acrylics) , yet no airport I know coats their runways, and most runways are concrete, lol.

We topped 70 degrees today, hottest day in March that I ever remember, feels good, but we always get a big snow storm in March so this won't last long.

Another rainy dreary day. BUT, we must make the best and enjoy life, right! My sister would like that a friend and I headed to Newport RI. We had lunch, walked around a bit, and it was chilly. We then stopped at another eating spot where I had a sangria and we shared an apple crisp. I know my sister would have approved of how I spent my day. Back to the gym tomorrow.

Heavy snow here we are expecting 5-8 inches overnight. Roads are very slippery they closed the highway here in my town due to multiple accidents and also the access road to the resort due to multiple accidents.
