sigh, I'm procrastinating. I really need to go get some groceries but the storm is coming.
Which, of course, means everybody and his brother will be making the panic rush to the store to get supplies.

Looks like we may see our first significant snow fall in quite a while. ICK! Most of the Y locations are closed. One is still not showing as closed, I was going to go there in the AM, but maybe I'll just sleep in and when I get up I can do some cleaning. Nothing like starting spring cleaning on a snowy day!

Forecast for us dropped from 12" down to 5"
now let's all be mature and not go to the dating jokes, ok?

We are getting rain, but Vito’s mom up in the Meadowlands is getting 6-9” of the white stuff tomorrow.
Weather in Phoenix this weekend will be perfect for Vito’s half marathon and visiting. Mid 70s daytime and 50s at night.

It is snowing, we may get 5-8" but the accumulation forecast is all over the place. Schools closed, the Y closed all branches, local town halls closed. May be a little overkill, but lessons were learned after the blizzard of '78. Stay home if you can and let the snow plows do their work. My son was off today, as was my granddaughter. Grandson had no school. The only one who was working was my daughter in law and she took a very early shift and will be headed home soon. Hopefully, all my little chicks will be in their nest soon.

We wound up with 2" inches of annoyance snow.
Not really enough for the snow blower but a lot to shovel.
it will melt i guess. eventually

Yesterday marked the first anniversary of Cyclone Gabrielle wrecking the region. One of the interesting numbers that came out gave it more scale. Originally it was said we lost about 11,000 acres of orchards and crops, but that has been revised to over 150,000 acres, which is an area a bit larger than Chicago, or more than 10 times the size of Manhattan, or nearly half of Los Angeles.
(I'm just picking random US spots here, feel free to use your own locale for scale...call it about 225 square miles)

Much of our winter has been like this, not enough snow for the snow blower but enough to bother you with the shovel, wet and heavy too. I got one good snow storm for snow blower use, the second biggest storm didn't have enough snow to allow the blower to do its job correctly.

It actually does rain in southern California. The temperature swings are very boring. Three degree spread two days in a row: 52 to 55 *F.

I wore a typical winter sweater today and I was way over-dressed, a very sunny and warm February day today.
