We spent some time making our herb garden bunny-proof, with some chicken-wire installation, but we didn't do anything to protect from frost. We will see how the plants make out this week if they survived. If worse comes to worse we will just buy new plants to replace anything that dies. We had such warm weather we never thought it would drop so drastically and quickly. We learn from mistakes.
My father in law as a graduate from an agricultural school and avid gardener. His rule of thumb was to never plant before Memorial Day due to the possibility of a late season frost. He did it once and yes, that was the year we had a frost. Some areas in MA had frost the night before last. Rick generally goes by that rule as well. Watches the 10 day forecast for the trends to decide if he might plant a bit sooner.

It does appear we will do some planting next week.

I went to the Car Show last night but didn't end up putting the top down on the S which was a good thing because on my way to the show a bird dropped a load all over the top, windshield and hood of my shiny just washed S. I was annoyed but did have to laugh (after I cleaned it off)

Yeah in our region we go by May 24th as the least risky time to plant, but the farmers were going nuts this week planting their crops I figured it was safe. But they just plant seeds mostly so they are likely safer than my plants.

Bummer! Sometimes I think the birds aim at our cars…especially light colored ones…

I recall an S2000 owner who got bombed by a seagull that dropped a burrito into his open S2000 cabin, it exploded on impact. The seagull was garbage picking prior to flying over the S2000 at a stoplight, lol.

All my cars got coated this year by drunken robins full of red berries. So did my yard, my buildings, driveways etc. Nothing like a drunken robin party in an Egyptian Fig tree. Lately the Lovebugs have been out. Seen a few cars plastered with those. Worst I've ever been coated was lying on the beach. A pelican got me from head to toe.

^5-31-2023. Had a daytime high of 80°F after last night's low of 53° and with 61° at 11:44 pm. My idea of perfect weather to go with the bright green spring and constant bird songs. It was windy or breezy and never felt hot. Had a few minutes of thunder, winds and far off lightning but it was to the east and when it stopped I weeded and mowed my small lawn.

^5-31-2023. Stormy to the east at 4:07 pm. That ridge of rocks is called "Devil's Backbone". My ex-husband lives just to the east of it, about 5 miles from my house.

^5-31-2023. A night shot.

Getting my snow tires taken off right now and plan on putting the shovel away when I get home so that means it will probably snow this weekend but expecting temps into the 90’s today.
