I never want to see an atmospheric river, not in my line of work, no, no. I will take our winters before an atmospheric river of rain.

Calif. has always got around 50% of its rainfall from AR's The problem is climate change(global warming) just a 5% increase in intensity of a AR can cause 250% more damage. Right now 53% of AR's cause little or no damage but with climate change that number is going down and more AR's are causing damage and the damage is greater than what we've seen in the past.

What worries me is a AR that doesn't move from the north state to the south but will be stationary in one spot around 250 miles wide and 2000 miles long. A cat 5 AR can drop as much water as 8 to 10 Mississippi rivers in 100 hours. I don't care where on earth this happens it will overwhelm everything.Central California had a cat 5 AR back in 1996/97 that cause over $100 billion in damages.

Thanks for putting that into perspective Rod, hard to imagine something like that until you see it, and all we see is what is on television. Rain and water is good , it just needs to be smoothed out in how it comes, more frequent and less powerful storms would be nice, but things don't always work out how you want.

We were expecting a sizeable snow storm, it didn't amount to much and the warm ground has melted much of it. No need to use my new snowblower lol.

There is so much snow in the California Sierra Nevadas right now that the statewide average snow water equivalent is currently at 191% of the April 1st average and at 201% for the March 1st. average. The snow is still falling.

Good for the almond farmers and everyone else who needs more water, not sure it lessens the chance of wildfires though ?

We have a big storm coming Mon. into Wed. Supposed to be a Nor’easter with a couple of feet of wet heavy snow. Normally it doesn’t bother me but I have to travel back and forth to work Mon. and Tues. night.

I read about that!

Have far do you travel back and forth?

You really get a lot of snow where you live!

Good luck!

Thank you It’s 14 miles each way. I live in the mountains and work down in the valley so it gets better as I travel to work and worse as I travel home. The plow usually heads up the mountain which is the first part of my trip right before me so that helps and then the second part of my trip where I turn on to another highway I am on my own but it is not as steep as when I’ climbing the mountain road.

To me, that would be scary! I do not like snow!

And, you do it in the dark, do you not?

Hope you do not get as much as they are predicting.

Any idea of your total snow this season? A record?
