Lower Michigan had an ice storm that knocked out electric service to 900k people. We were one of them. No service for 21 hours and most of the time it was below freezing. Our inside temperature dropped 14° and initially they were saying it would be three days before our service was restored but thank God it came on last night. Even with 300 crews working there was still 700 K without service last night.

84 Partly cloudy. Light Breeze. Finished the last of our deck remodel yesterday. Did a little remote computer work outside this morning on it. Life is good.

I just shoveled snow that was like cement off a deck.

All the roads leading into the hills this morning were closed due to snow. Probably just fractions of an inch, but people in Napa don’t know how to drive in any snow. Supposed to get more tonight, with rain. Looks like we had two inches of that since yesterday.

Everything is still under about three inches of snow but the sun should help melt that today. The low was -3° and it's already up to 20°. I'm good with snow and so glad we don't get the ice storms some of you are getting. The only thing I have to accept that I don't like is the snow grunge on my Pilot and on my garage floor. I just look at it and think, "What the hell is this? Ice fungus?" It's something I never dealt with until moving to Colorado. Sometimes I'll park outside of the driveway and kick off what will fall off before I put the Pilot in the garage. It's been too cold to do that, lately.

Yeah there were accidents all over the place here the last few days. They said on the news that there were 39 accidents between wed at 7 p.m. wed and 3 p.m. Thursday with 2 deaths and 14 cars slid off the interstate this morning. I wish more people would take driving in bad weather more seriously and also not try to drive cars that aren't equipped to drive in winter weather on the road. I just saw a new Supra driving around up on the mountain without snow tires on it.

I stand corrected. After I got a haircut I looked at the hills while driving home and saw lots of white. So I went up the old road I lived off of for 20 years. I went around a Road Closed sign, later driving past a CHP sitting in his car ( by a wreck of a Lincoln SUV that slid into a pole) and this was the scene at the top of the hill.

Looks like 5-6 inches at 1100 feet. Our house was 1500 feet so probably got more. I turned around right after this, as it was one track only and I had nowhere to go.

Some areas of MA and New England are getting snow....we've still been spared and I'm happy about that!

There is a storm predicted for Tuesday, but again, we may just get a mix here, likely more rain than snow. I'm happy about that too. Snow is just too darn disruptive. I'd be OK never seeing a flake again.

Patricia, I'm sure your dirty cars/snow grunge drives you nuts! You're still a newbie!

However, we hate to see our cars covered in that mess too.

I just saw a report on local TV that so far this February is in the running for the least snow. So far we have only had 0.1" of snow. The record is 0.2".

All of this because I bought a snow blower!! I may buy a new one every year!!!
