Well that sucked. Cyclone Gabrielle hit the region pretty hard, 5 confirmed dead so far but bound to get worse. A valley a bit north of us had 7m of flooding that meant people had to be rescued from rooftops, with some having two floors underwater.

We lost power and internet for 40 hours, and cell service for about 48 hours. About 5 acres of paddocks went underwater, and the council drain they confidently stated would never overflow overflowed and scoured out our driveway and ran under the cottage. The main house and other outbuildings were mainly ok except the greenhouse, which lost a few panes. Our lovely big willow out in the paddocks has sadly split open like a banana, and I've got a fair bit of work to do to manage it down.

Before:

After, on the left:

Thankfully the paddocks drained quickly, and I'd moved all the stock forward to higher ground, so only real damage is the driveway scouring and some repairs to the fence that the willow landed on.

You have my sympathies. We just went through Hurricane Ian and took a big hit.

Thanks all. I forgot to mention, we rounded out the day yesterday with a 6.3 earthquake. No damage fortunately. Severe thunderstorm watch for this afternoon. Any time Summer wants to arrive is good for me.

oh my... GL getting everything resolved.

It's been warm here. too warm for Feb really. It should be colder than the coldest day in the next 10 all month Been 60 or more part of the week, and 2 more days, then 50s finally dipping into the 30s next weekend.

Normally, this time of year its 20s, teens and a bad feb - single digits.

It’s been in the fifties here the last few days. We lost 3 people who fell through the ice up on Champlain. We saw someone ice fishing yesterday people just don’t get it.
