There is very little snow on the ground but my neighbor's patio has about two feet drifted up!

Looks like we've pretty much stayed on the warm side of things which is just as well since we got 3 inches of rain. which would translate to 3 feet of snow.

34 deg now. I just can't help but wonder why the house feels cold even though the thermostat is set on the same temp it is all winter. The winds aren't as bad as they were, but still breezy. I am not a fan of cold weather.

Nothing like a crackling fire to warm up the 14* temp outside. It’s even better to know that all the wood was harvested and split (by me) on our property.

Things are really bad here just saw on Facebook that they just reopened the highway but they said that the road is treacherous and don't go out unless you absolutely have to.

We got down to -9°F here in the Chicago west suburbs last night. The winds were fierce with gusts up in the 40mph range. Luckily, we only got about 1.5 inches of very dry snow and the winds swept it off of our upper deck. It's 15' deep by 36' long and we like to keep it clear of snow if possible. The sun room below the deck had some air leaks in the 30' of sliding doors in that room that we had to stuff with foam rod insulation. I ran out of foam rod but will buy some more today at Lowes since we will have a balmy 13°F day. The winds are forecast to continue with high gusts today with something of a drop tomorrow, Christmas Day.

I hate winter with a deep and abiding passion but my wife loves it. It must be her Swedish DNA.

19 deg here now -- wind chill at 17 deg. Turned on gas logs this morning, but all 3 heat pumps are running on aux power. I feel the pain of a high electric bill. Anyway, this should be over soon.
