We still have 79,000 without power. Winds yesterday got up to 65 mph.

60 mph seems to be the breaking point for wind damage in our parts. Whenever we have a storm approaching that is predicted to have winds of 60 mph or more we can expect damage to roofs, fences, trees, and power. I just cringe when I hear of such approaching weather as I just know what it causes. Being without power is bad, I hate that and I don't want to experience that too often.

My uncles in Maine used to use dooryard quite frequently but you actually have to have a dooryard for it to make sense.
it a larger area to park cars that isn't necessarily a driveway.
Typically it's a gravel mix but with interspersed grass covering a big area just off of the road near your door.
The fine trim lawn of suburbia would have no concept of a door yard.

Another warm one today. Took the P car over to the local bike path so we could walk. Two different areas. Most scenic. Much better walk today. Nice paved roads under the leaves. No rocks, no roots and I wore shorts so I didn't feel like I was melting as I did the other day.

Oil change appointment is made for the P car, so it will be going under cover soon.

Widely scattered dark early this evening, giving way to widespread dark later. Expect some light around first thing tomorrow with extensive light later in the morning.
