A little anxious watching Hurricane Ian's path as it approaches Florida. The next worry for those of us on the Atlantic is Hermine. My area does not have good luck with "H" named storms, so I'm probably more concerned about Hermine than Ian. This area was devastated by Hazel in the 50s and Hugo in 1985. I've stocked up on supplies and praying we don't get hit.

I always think of her when a big storm comes across the Atlantic. Looks like this one is headed more toward my bro who lives in Naples.

Apparently Ian is expected to hit the west coast of Florida soon. After that the track is uncertain but we expect to get some nasty weather Thurs and Friday. Can't wait.

Almost 30 years ago I was on Sand Key outside Tampa for a standards meeting, back when we did that sort of thing face to face.
This little, too much shear at the upper levels, barely a named storm, Tropical storm Josephine went into the panhandle some hundred miles away.
The hotel had sandbags in front of the restaurant doors to keep the water out and there was a foot of water in the parking lot. BTW the sandbags didn't help much.
A few days later when i was level the island, I could see seaweed stuck in the roadside fence well above eye level while driving the car.
On Ian's projected course they are well and truly ****ed.

I feel very sad for those people staring down this storm since I know how it feels to wonder if your home and belongings will be standing or damaged when a hurricane strikes. Sigh.

Yes, I am very concerned about my good friend from here and her mother. Friend is flying shortly to Sarasota. Her mom’s house is in Venice, between the Intracoastal and the ocean. She is 99 and lives alone. Already looked bad but now Ian seems to be shifting south toward Ft Myer.
