Home safe and sound with no damage to our place. Based on one of our clocks, we lost power at some point for about one minute.

Feeling very fortunate, especially considering all those poor souls to our west. Louisiana has been hit with three major hurricanes in the last 12 months.

I saw a report from Gulfport that said you over in that area were very fortunate. Goes to show what a difference not that many miles makes. Grand Isle looks really bad. Just flattened.

When buying a house the three most important things are location, location, and location. Great news Mike.

Are you sure it wasn't 58 seconds?
or maybe a minute and 9 seconds?

Bet it felt good to pull up and see everything intact.

The digital clock on our range was blinking so I know power was out at some point. The time on the clock was one minute behind real time. But since it only registers down to the minute, not to the second, the outage could very well have been slightly more or less than one minute.

The fact that the ice in the ice-maker bin was still in cube form rather than a solid block indicates power was NOT out for 12 hours minus one minute (approximately).

Engineers...

Yes, we were happy to see everything intact and just to be home.

I suggested to everyone here in 2017 that if you leave on a trip, or have to evacuate, that you turn off your ice maker and empty out the ice, in case of a power outage. When the fires hit and we were evacuated for five days, the ice melted when the power went out, and leaked down onto our wood floors. Cost thousands of dollars to fix. TOF, you live dangerously!

Well, semi dangerously...dangerously would have been staying at home!! Looking like 3-5" of rain from Ida the next couple of days. We do not need any more rain right now.

Everything I read says ice takes up more space than water. So when the ice melted it should have taken up less space in the container. So the real problem wasn't the power went out, it was because it came back on. Still if it was making ice why wouldn't the normal shut off work. Was it ice floating in the water?

We Yanks see the unbelievable road devistation from the storms. You couldn't have just driven home like it was a normal day? Right?
