F1 engines have been running systems like this for a while now. > 10 years.
it's the only way you can spin motors at 21K RPMs.
Conventional Cam float would take over long before then.
It is some what surprising that no one has picked it up yet in conventional motoring

I think that this VIDEO is very creative. Needless to say the driver has excellent car control skills.

........ But, in the end would it make you want to buy that car?
