That was easy. It only took two minutes and twenty-one seconds.

These videos like the ones on HGTV are the worst thing that has happened to DIY people (IMHO) where they can make a complete home renovation in twenty-two minutes, to fit into a half hour show with eight minutes of commercials. One of the episodes that sticks in my mind was about building a back yard Gazebo. The host clearly stated that after picking your stop and making it level they started construction. What he did NOT say was that it took three men with a Bob Cat all day to make the spot straight and level before they could start building. Unfortunately, some "other half's" don't understand that most projects are not as easy as they look on TV.

I am thinking about the weekend that I spent with a friend helping to build our shed. Getting the spot squared and level was the hardest part.

Does anyone else have a story about a job that took much longer than they thought or was advertized?

I think that this VIDEO is cool. I just wish that I could have been on the ISS to try it.

If anyone didn't get the Bilbo Baggins reference:

IMHO this VIDEO is a great example of wisdom versus knowledge.

Published on May 6, 2013

In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn't become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we've ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.
We made this video, built around an abridged version of the original audio recording, with the hopes that the core message of the speech could reach a wider audience who might not have otherwise been interested. However, we encourage everyone to seek out the full speech (because, in this case, the book is definitely better than the movie).
