I must have grown up in the wrong era....

We never did stuff like that... I doubt anyone did back then....

This younger generation must be totally crazy to do some of this stuff...

But then... I'd like to give it a try! :0

I have never been much of a Danica Patrick fan as coming up through the ranks she had never won a race until Twin Ring Motegi in her IRL career.

With that stated: Watching thisVIDEO of her big HIT at Daytona that was not her fault she earned new respect from me for her presence of mind to take her hands off of the wheel before impact. Then she went on to win the pole for the Nationwide Cup race. Maybe she is a racer after all?

If you may recall holding on to the "wheel" is how Shirley Muldowney's crash cost her her thumb by holding on to the "wheel". In fairness to Ms. Muldowney her accident happened in a blink of an eye at 245 MPH. This VIDEO showed what happened.

I had the pleasure of meeting her when I was the National Sales Manager for Bell Helmet's Motorsports Division shortly before her crash. After her recovery, when she got back in a AA Fueler for the first time she ran within one tenth of a second of her times before that crash.

In my opinion my friends that makes her a true racer. Just like I am NOW impressed that Danica Patrick got back in the car and won the pole for the Nationwide event.

As for me, I am really looking forward to the start of the 2012 Formula One season. Unlike the NASCAR "guys" or NHRA they go around right and left hand turns and pull as much as five G's in more than one direction. Zero to 100 MPH to Zero in under five seconds is more impressive to me. 18K RPM Red Lines versus push rods and carburetors is more my style. Besides, the head light decals and the real wheel drive Toyota Camry's.

^^^

But I hate to see people that where their shoulder belt under their arm like that. If one gets in an accident it is almost certain to cause your broken ribs to puncture your lung(s).

C'mon, Matt...if she had worn the belt properly, that would have totally spoiled the view!

As an ex-Huey pilot, I can affirm that everything you see in this video is absolutely the truth!

I think that this VIDEO of Gary Sinise retelling the story of Elgin Staples is pretty incredible.
