For those of you that may have seen the 60 Minutes piece a few years ago featuring a free style rock climber this VIDEO from 1987 of Catherine Destivelle is IMHO even more impressive. Her strength is amazing. Especially the part where she is climbing horizontally and is inverted.

I can only imagine what it would have been like to shake her hand.

Ernest Hemmingway had it right when he stated that only mountain climbing, bull fighting and motorsports are true sports. Everything else is JUST a game.

Her strength and muscular endurance are mind boggling! I would love to have seen her in the merest of bikinis- because her physical development has to be like a Michaelangelo sculpture!

Free style climbers are nuts; I'll stick with motorsports.

This is just one of those deals that comes along very seldom…

This event happened Good Friday in Detroit, MI.

If you have a few minutes, check out this chilling duet with Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill.

Observe the reaction of other entertainers in the audience.

At Carnegie Hall, gospel singer Wintley Phipps delivers perhaps the most powerful rendition of Amazing Grace ever recorded. He says, "A lot of people don't realize that just about all Negro spirituals are written on the black notes of the piano. Probably the most famous on this slave scale was written by John Newton, who used to be the captain of a slave ship, and many believe he heard this melody that sounds very much like a West African sorrow chant. And it has a haunting, haunting plaintive quality to it that reaches past your arrogance, past your pride, and it speaks to that part of you that's in bondage. And we feel it. We feel it. It's just one of the most amazing melodies in all of human history." After sharing the noteworthy history of the song, Mr. Phipps delivers a stirring performance that brings the audience to its feet!

I found this video to be educational (the lyrics make more sense to me now), entertaining and inspirational all at the same time. And, he has a GREAT voice.

Great performance. Down here where I live the same type of performance can be observed on any given Sunday in a myriad of churches. That's the way church services are in the south. The musical portion of the service is usually far more moving than the preaching part.

On this Veterans Day I thought that this VIDEO was appropriate and nicely done.
