Our Avelo flight to Naples was cancelled today and rescheduled to tomorrow. Then we received notice that this flight has been pushed back by 3 hours. We had to cancel 2 Uber pick ups and reschedule a rental car. This will be our first and last time using them.

That sounds like normal airline operating procedures.

Ray, hope all works out better tomorrow. Even when it all works out I no longer enjoy flying anywhere.

I can see the need for the low cost airlines and I'm sure they have a market. I almost never fly Frontier.
They fly right out of Trenton Mercer, about 5 minutes from the house - have enough destinations to get to. However, for us, it really only works in some cases. Here's why...
If I'm going on vacation, I want to get there. I can fly from Newark or Philly (both within an hour) and get almost anywhere non-stop. If there's an issue with a plane, there's parts and maybe even the opportunity to juggle the actual planes. I can't ever recall having a flight at either cancelled. However, Frontier, if something happens, there's limited parts and even crews. Not every flight is daily. So, if I'm headed to Florida for a month and I miss 2 days, oh well. If I'm going down for 1 week, I surely am not risking missing 2 days. The last low cost airlines that flew out of Trenton - I went 3 days in a row for a morning flight to Hanscomb Field (outside of Boston) to go to our Devens, MA site. The first two days, I found out the flight was cancelled when I got to the airport. The 3rd day, the flight occurred. Cindy's friend missed a cruise because the flight was cancelled from Trenton to Florida. Luckily, the cruise line did the booking so they got a full refund/exchange on the flight and cruise, otherwise, they'd have been SOL.
My last trip to Florida, I flew United from Newark with my Mom down. I flew back to Trenton with my friends. Relatively short flight (similar to DE to FL), the seats were hard plastic, no amenities. Couldn't imagine that for a lengthier flight.
Plus, you see $59 and go WOW!!!, oh, carry on? $40, luggage? $50, non-random seat? $30. So the $59 seat is really $200 when all said and done. If you have just your personal bag, it's a cheap flight and probably worth the risk. For me, in most cases, the convenience of the airport isn't worth it.

My sister is planning on meeting me in NY next month at our nephew's home. We plan on spoiling our great niece and nephew while we are there. We only have a few days together. Her flight is on one of the low cost airlines. Hope things go well....

I was leaning more towards flying than driving to Florida but am starting to lean back towards driving.

Leaving Friday, 4/5
, staying at Flagstaff for a night, then Tucumcari, NM for a night, then staying with friends in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, for two nights. Eclipse is on 4/8. We'll be on the center line of the path of totality, either Kerrville or Waxahatchie, a little SE of Dallas. Return unclear, but probably four nights. Anne Marie wants to see New Mexico. Probably will include the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Meteor Crater.
This will be our 10th total or annular eclipse (Roundup, MT, Cabo San Lucas, Catalina Island, Aruba, Munich, Puerto Vallarta, St. George, UT, Salem, OR, and Richfield, UT).
