No more trips for me until October for our ACL Hudson River cruise. Vito will be up in NJ later this month to visit his mom and his kids will fly up. Then in early Sept he is going to Memphis for some sporting events with the kids (who live in the area). Lots of staycation stuff going on…baseball games, soccer game, tribute concerts at our fave venue, and our traditional NYE night out at the lovely Willard hotel.

Deb, the Hudson River has some cool lighthouses, I'm sure you will see them in your travels. My car doesn't need a front license plate, so I have a pic of one of those lighthouses in place of a plate.

Decided to go to Maine for a Monday and Tuesday in early August for our anniversary trip. We've been to the area before. Will base ourselves in Rockland, and from there it's easy to go north or south for the places I'd like to re-visit. Hampton Inn reserved and can be cancelled up until the day before we leave. I've no desire to have another few days of vacation in the rain. Being retired, we can go anytime!

We had to cancel our Cuba trip, my wife's mother did not recover as well as we expected after her surgery. We had cancellation insurance so we will go on the trip in a few months if things allow. Our credit is good for 12 months.

^ Thanks for all of the kind thoughts, I do appreciate it. It has been a difficult spring and early summer for my wife and myself, but we hope things will stabilize soon. We expected my wife's mother to have been home several months ago but she has been retained in the hospital much longer than expected. If we can get her home and stabilized then maybe we can re-book our vacation. It has been much more challenging than we ever expected but we have done all that we can to help. I have been able to gather up a lot of hospital equipment from volunteer organizations so we will have some help for her when she does make it home.

I am glad you had cancellation insurance to offset the disappointment. I hope your MIL improves soon. It has been an ordeal, I know.

^ Thanks Deb, we will make it to our destination in the future and the cancellation insurance was great so we won't lose a dime. We just need to rebook at a future date. We will get there

I walked into my office today and my secretary greeted me with an "Ola", I immediately asked her not to use that word this week as I was supposed to be in Cuba right now. Hearing that word was bringing me down I told her that she was free to use the term after Monday as that was my return date from our trip lol We got a laugh out of it together.
