We heard from a "reliable source" that General Robert E Lee's name is often whispered. He is still revered.

I'm hoping there will be no re-match.

Lainey. I and all my friends (even the ones who whisper that special name) believe that this war ended the only way it could have ended to still produce our great united Country. I think I'll never forget your comment about that sign in Appomattox that says: "Where our country reunited." I've probably driven past that sign a million times in my lifetime and never gave it a lot of thought. Its a great sign.

My official name is Robert E. guess which side my ancestors were on?

I am with you on no rematch: we southerns have already beat Ohio State in football, men's basketball and Rutgers in women's basketball. Our TN boy Peyton Manning dismantled the Chicago connection, so we are waiting on baseball-looks like Vanderbilt from right here in Nashville will win that.

Beating the Yankees is not even any fun anymore-it's becoming common place!

and I forgot to mention in my Appomattox pics, that we had our own Valentine as a tour guide. (going to edit that now!) Our own Southern Belle. Why didn't I have Rick take some pics of us together there?

Also, I learned that the term "parole" was used for the southern soldiers, once their arms were laid down. I never thought of it that way. I always thought of it as a "discharge" from the army, but not quite in this case, as it was explained to me that technically they (the Confederate soldiers) were prisoners of war.

I had printed up a few places of interest from online research then forgot about the papers..... We were almost past the restaurant , when I spotted it, realized it was on the "to do" list and since it was lunchtime.......

It was the name of the place that caught my attention in the first place. Lots of memorabilia inside, they also had really neat T-shirts for sale, but only available in 2X. Wouldn't work for me.
