Default Upcoming Charity event

Hello all,

I'm just posting up some info and links to an annual event that I'm involved with. 10 years ago, the Greater Trenton Dart League started a partnership with Make A Wish NJ called Darts for Dreams. Since it's inception, the GTDL has raised about $165,000 and directly sponsored twenty-six wishes for kids in NJ facing life-threatening illnesses. This year, we are setting our goal at $25,000, which should sponsor another three to four wishes. Of the approximately 200 external events in NJ that raise money for MAWNJ, we are one of the top 10. We're super excited for out 10th year and hoping to continue on our path and be able to help out as many kids as we can.

Our dart league raises money in several ways.
  • We sell ad-book space to local businesses and darts related businesses. We'll sell an ad to anyone, but a business somewhere not local likely has little value. We won't however turn away your donation.
  • Our players collect personal donations for the event.
  • We collect items and merchandise that we use as raffles or other prizes at the event.
  • We sell raffle tickets with prizes of a 50" TV, an Apple Ipad Air, and an XBOX One
Several of the members here have helped out in the past, either through a personal donation or the purchase of raffle tickets. Since we're now about 7 weeks away, I'll posting up hoping that we'll get the same support or more this year. Thanks to everyone who's helped in the past, and to those of you who might help out this year.

If you want to help out, we've made it real simple... Here's our online donation form . You can click there, make a donation through the page and MAWNJ will get the money directly. If your employer happens to match gifts, you can subsequently send a matching gifts form to double that donation.

If you'd like to help out by buying a raffle, you can also use the online donation form . Then, just send me a message here or heyitsgary AT gmail.com to let me know you'd like it to go towards tickets. I'll do the accounting on my side and send you a pic of your tickets.

Thanks everyone. For those of you I see when I can get to Ken's MWG, this is the same event many of you support that day.

Thanks to everyone who helped with a donation or bought some raffle tickets...

Our preliminary numbers for this year's event are:... $32,262 raised for MAWNJ. I still have some things 'on the table', but it's likely we'll sign over a big check on Thursday night in the $32,300 range.

Very excited. This beats our record year in 2014 (28,372) by $4,000 so far. We had one of our wish kids and family come out to talk. It was a wish that our event sponsored last year, a 16 year old girl whose wish was to see the cast and crew of Pitbulls and Paroles, as well as the whole rescue operations.

They talked for a few minutes and we found some of our donations that were up here alley, so we gave them to her with the usual shirts, MAWNJ stuff. She had a smile on for a few hours until they left.

No calls/messages, or emails...guess I'm not a big prize winner.

Great job with the fund raiser, Gary. This is a good thing you and friends do. Congratulations on the success of the event!
