I thought the same too, but apparently, in CT you cannot name an insurance company in a lawsuit. You have to name the insured. Based on that, she really didn't have much of an option but to name the kid in order to get the insurance company to pay her medical bills. I saw the joint interview with the aunt and nephew on GMA. She's had 2 surgeries and is facing a third. Once again, mainstream media is sensationalizing with headlines.

I'm not yet convinced of her veracity. Why is she asking her Homeowners Insurance to cover it? Doesn't she have medical insurance which would probably pay however it happened? At least the med policies I've had/have would have.

Good question. I'm not familiar with the insurance laws in CT. It may be that homeowners and not medical is the appropriate way to go. I don't know.

We carry it.

$200 provides $1M of coverage with my homeowners. With the litigious society we live in, this is very cheap peace of mind.
