Default Tsunami relief

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I wanted to start a thread specific to how we can help. This is probably the worst natural disaster of any of our lifetimes. Time to pitch in...

The following aid agencies are accepting contributions for assistance that they or their affiliates are providing for those affected by the earthquake and tidal waves in Asia. I don't endorse any particular one of them. There's a wide selection, most with links to web sites. Since we can't get on a plane and help in person, pick the organization(s) you feel most comfortable with and kick into the till. Help make someone's new year a bit less horrible.

Was not especially with the way the ARC handled the shelter here during hurricane Ivan. I deliberately selected another charity.

My wife's employer has set up a fund where they are matching donations, that is where we sent the money.

We have also sent money to Doctors without Borders, who is also one of the relief agencies heavily involved.

I have just read an article in the New York Times stating that President Bush has pledged $350 million on behalf of the United States Government in aid to the stricken nations of Asia. This is a meaningful amount of help.

Nice, kids. Keep it up. I sent in my annual donations at the end of the year, and ARC, docs w/out borders, UNICEF, and CARE were among them. I really hope the relief workers can get access to the affected areas quickly.
