As for sushi, love it, but I like most fish. I try to avoid octopus, because I'd rather see them underwater.
I like different varieties of seafood, some fish more than others. I will eat calamari, but never tried octopus.
I did try a "hunters' stew" once. It had moose meat, venison, and I'm not sure what else. It was tasty, but I didn't want seconds....kind of creeped me out.

there isn't much I don't eat, except badly made food.
I grew up with a grandmother in the house.
She just happened to be a head chef at Wellesley college.
so I had palate get developed at an early age and learned to cook as well.
Had sashimi including octopus for lunch yesterday.

Sushi is HIGH on my, "will never eat" list, along with tofu, and other "weird food."
I grew up eating elk and deer. My dad not only enjoys hunting, but he's quite good at it. Elk is my favorite steak. (I never understood why "steak" was used as a term for luxury -- we had steak for dinner about every other night.)

I'm less willing to try new things because, over the years, the list of things I know I like has grown because I tried new things. Now, trying something new usually ends up with me thinking, "Wow! I coulda had xxxx instead of this. It would have been better."

much to my chagrin, I am running out of new things to try.
dietetically, I am also finding more restrictions on what I can't and what I am am not supposed to eat which is even more annoying.

On our vacation in Peru, we found the ceviche (very fresh raw fish "cooked" in key lime juice) to be outstanding. Up in the Andes, they push alpaca steaks, riblets, etc. It is OK, a little gamy, but still lacking a real flavor. The key is the ahi limo peppers -- just the right heat to temper the lime juice.
I'll pretty much try anything that is prepared in clean, wholesome conditions.

Trying to eat more fish since we are retired to the beach and it is pleantiful plus the omega 3 benefits. Growing up in Baltimore crabs and seafood are right up there. Less meat unless it is super lean. Lots of veggies and fruit. Pasta on ocassion and with grandkids pizza with toppings I never tried before. We try to strike a balance between healthy and nutritiional foods since we are active in sports (Biking, walking, strength training and Golf). My wife has borderline osteoporosis in her hip area so foods rich with calcium are important. I will try most foods except I dont like most Mexican foods (too hard on the stomach).
