Default Traveling in the S...........in the rain

We started our trip to PEI tonight. We wanted to get about four hours in so I made a reservation in Augusta, ME. (Good thing we had a reservation, hotel is sold out!) We rain into, rain, rain and some heavy rain.

Since my "off road" experience two years ago, I'm not too fond of driving or even riding in the S in the rain, and it was even worse at night. Rick kept the speed down, but I was about as relaxed as if I was was sitting in a dentist chair

Thankfully, we made it safe and sound and I'm here to report in with the free wi-fi.

So who else that has had an accident in their S is still a bit gun shy in bad weather?

Edit: Weather looks better for tomorrow.

I love driving in the rain. Some roads are better than others. Interstates are a challenge especially with all the spray. The back roads are a lot more fun, there is no traffic. I am careful and more focused when driving in the rain. It can be your best friend when you are driving a low horsepower vehicle on track.

What I hate though is having to clean up after coming home. Hope you guys have a safe trip

ETA: Never had an accident in the S2000 and I'd like it to stay that way. But if it happens I'll just deal with it

I'm trying to understand why poeple think the S2000 is bad in the rain.
Lainey, I'm thinking it was more than a wet road that got you.
like maybe there was a camber change you didn't notice which coupled with the wet road got you.

If the rears get really worn it certainly get interesting but the feedback always seems to be there to catch it.

I've never really given it a second thought after upgrading to 17s and getting away from the S-02s. Those things were downright scary if the rears were worn at all.

Jerry, Rick is of the same opinion. The tires weren't really all that low on tread. We have relatively new tires on this trip. I'm sure I'm just having flashbacks or something.

The visibility was also pretty bad. Lots of spray and you could hardly see the painted lines on the road. On the plus side, the weather for the rest of the week looks pretty good.

I hope you never have an accident in the S. We dealt with it just fine, but it does stay with you. I know of others who have had accidents in the rain who are still a bit "gun shy". I know I'm not alone. I saw my life flash before my eyes that day.

Al. We never had the S02s. I've heard the stories about those.

S02's are great tires..... just don't let them get too worn!

Worn S02's are not good in the rain......

Good luck with the rest of your trip! Nice weather... top down.... I'm jealous!

Too hot here in Cincy to enjoy the top down these days!

My very 1st driving school with the S back in 2002 was in the rain with S-02's that had 10k miles, never had any problem once I got used to the slight slip on the straights when VTEC kicked in hard. Mark me down as one who loves the rain, speeds are down slightly, and the drama and fun is greatly increased.

I have always thought the S's so called bump-steer and lousy S-02's was way, way, way over complained about, but that's just me...

Although I've not had an accident in my existing cars, I will say this, I can understand being gun shy after someone has had an incident, and the key is go slow and get comfortable again.

Doug I wish you had been in the car that day on I-75. The car was undriveable over 40 mph. I wasn't really afraid of wrecking but I was scared to death of getting run over. That section was concrete, heavily worn, and had ruts in both lanes with standing water from semi traffic. It was the longest 20 miles I've ever driven.

Rears were at about 6500 miles.
